From the desk of Don Jones, Owner and President of The Spartan Group

I founded The Spartan Group during the Great Recession on the day of my 46th birthday, January 30, 2009. My plan was based on my experiences at Lithia Motors where I had previously worked for 19 years. I wanted to purchase New Vehicle Dealerships in Regional Markets of the Western United States. Markets where I had familiarity.

The Guy/Gal with the Best Team Wins... so simple to understand and so true in meaning.

My number one focus since day one has been to assemble the Very Best Team. I believe I have... and I feel very fortunate, very fortunate indeed.

Today we have 13 New Vehicle Dealerships in 6 Western States. We prefer to purchase stores where “change” is needed. Whether it might be new leadership, or even a new facility. We are proud to be referred to as “operators” rather than “consolidators.”

We respect and appreciate our Manufacturer Partners; I believe they feel the same way about us.

We value our relationships with our customers, and they seem to enjoy their relationship with us as evidenced by our extremely high customer satisfaction scores.

The Spartan Group consists of two Holding Companies. Spartan Management, LLC which owns the Dealerships, and Spartan Properties, LLC which owns all Dealership Real Estate, as well as Residential, Developmental, and Investment Properties.

Spartan Management, LLC by design is diverse. We have locations in 11 different cities, we have the following franchises: Acura, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, GMC, Honda, Jeep, Nissan, Ram, Subaru, Toyota, and VW. We have two major financial partners: Wells Fargo and Toyota Financial Services. We have two major technology partners: CDK and Reynolds & Reynolds.

Spartan Properties, LLC came to fruition when we agreed to build new Dealership Facilities for Ford, Honda, Stellantis, and Subaru. As the prices of Dealerships rose and Return on Investment (ROI) opportunities decreased, we began to invest more into Real Estate opportunities.

In terms of Size, our Annual Revenues place us amongst the top 2000 companies in America. In terms of Performance when comparing to traditional metrics for our industries I would conservatively say we are “very good.”

Lastly, we are a company that is devoid of politics and corporate BS. We are not a “family” owned business either. In our company our employees come first, and our customers come close behind! I firmly believe if you have the best team of employees then your relationships with your customers will be superior, and subsequently your ROI will be too. I am confident we have proven both to be true.
